Since I have been educating myself on the subject of fast fashion by watching the documentary
The True Cost, I have strangely stopped buying in retail shops. So yes, I have a few brands where I take my basics every year like Massimo Dutti or Uniqlo or Etam but for everything else I prefer to look for treasures, little works of art to keep for as long as they will let me by finding them on flea markets or in my favourite shops.
I will also soon share my favourite Parisian shops for vintage jewellery for which I never stop getting compliments. Because vintage jewellery gives you character, history, experience, it dresses a woman in itself 😉
Here are our favourite Vintage Shops in the capital. Don't hesitate to tell us yours in comments!

This beloved Dutch vintage clothing chain has finally found a much needed home on the streets of Paris. Another superbly organised second-hand shop, you'll find yourself browsing for fun rather than anxiety. Prices are also reasonable and we love their sustainability ethos. In their own words, "be responsible, use!
3. MAD VINTAGE
Unique and original pieces from the 1950s to the 2000s line the rails of this ethical and trendy chain shop. The meticulous arrangement of clothes by colour, style and season, as well as no queues in the fitting rooms, have created the vintage shopping experience of our dreams. Check out the vintage vibes served up on their social media channels for all the retro inspiration before you go!
4. VINTAGE SYSTEM
The owners of the chic by-appointment boutique Pretty Box are behind this worthy addition to the impressive vintage scene in Paris. Much more quaint than the vintage department stores on this list, you can expect to find unique, unusual and one-of-a-kind items from around the world. Their selection of quirky accessories ensures that no outfit is incomplete!
5. CELIA DARLING VINTAGE
The shop's owner, Celia, worked in art before becoming a vintage clothing specialist and it shows. Her offerings are carefully selected and then individually 'edited', so you can be sure that your outfit is truly one of a kind. Visit before Fashion Week and get ready to be photographed - a girl can dream!
6. PRISCA PARIS
This luxury vintage boutique is a celebration of French heritage and the most iconic French designers of the 20th century - Saint Laurent, Courrèges, Dior and many more! Whether you're looking for classic Parisian chic or ultra glamour, you can count on the advice of Prisca, the shop's owner and vintage enthusiast, to help you find the perfect piece. Browse through thousands of (beautifully organised) vintage gems, take your choices to the scales to find out the price, pay and take your rescued clothes home, ready to start a new life!
8. FANNY MIAMI
This graffiti-splattered, half-indoor, half-outdoor den of collected treasures is adored by professional stylists and passionate fashionistas alike. The excellent range covers all decades, from the 1920s to the 2000s, but it's the 70s selection that's really worth a look. Go for the vintage flights, stay for the music and atmosphere! We recommend going on a Sunday to check out the offerings at the Saint Ouen flea market next door. Retro heaven!
9. VINTAGE DESIRE
Eclectic and chaotic as can be, this little shop is a staple on the well-established vintage circuit in the Marais. If you have the time to rummage and rummage, you can find some great deals. We think it's best to go in with an open mind and no shopping list. When you arrive, don't panic - we haven't misled you (would we ever?) - the 'hairdresser' sign above the door is just evidence of the shop's former life as a hairdresser. How sweet!
10. MAMIE BLUE
Forget what you think you know about vintage shops - you won't find tattered denim or tired leather jackets here. A visit to this 9th arrondissement shop is like a fashion history lesson. Overflowing with vintage pieces spanning several centuries, prepare to be transported back in time by the shapes and fabrics of yesteryear! A must-see for those ladies and gentlemen born in the wrong era (or those who watch too much Downton Abbey).
